SLIPKNOT Guitarist Prefers Studio To Road
January 27, 2005Launch Radio Networks is reporting that SLIPKNOT will kick off their next North American tour in a little over a month, but if it was up to guitarist James Root, he'd spend more time in the studio working on new music. Root said he thinks SLIPKNOT has been able to break new musical ground with songs like their current single, "Vermilion", because the band takes their time writing. "We're lucky enough to have six months in the studio writing, and I'd love to take a year to write an album, you know," he said. "I wish we could spend most of our time in the studio writing, because that's, you know, when you just kind of, you know, let all your inhibitions go in the studio and that's when you start breaking down walls and barriers, you know. I mean, look what the Beatles did — they lived in studios, they stopped touring."
SLIPKNOT has added several more dates to its upcoming tour, which also includes LAMB OF GOD and SHADOWS FALL on the bill. The trek kicks off on March 4 in Hartford, Connecticut. Confirmed new dates include:
Apr. 17 - Spokane, WA - Star Theatre
Apr. 19 - West Valley City, UT - E Center
Apr. 20 - Denver, CO - Magness Arena (feat. DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN)
Apr. 27 - Springfield, IL - Prairie Capital Convention Center
Apr. 29 - Council Bluffs, IA - Mid-America Center
Apr. 30 - Madison, WI - Alliant Energy Center
